2007 Serene - Pinot Noir Evenstad Reserve Pinot Noir - USA - Oregon - Willamette Valley - Red

USA - Oregon - Willamette Valley

Red Pinot Noir
Producer Notes

Owners Ken and Grace Evenstad arrived in Oregon in 1989 to pursue their passion for Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Their winemaker Tony Rynders, who holds a Masters in Enology from UC Davis, crafts impeccably balanced wines primarily from three low-yielding estate properties: Jerusalem Hill, Evenstad and Winery Hill. Syrah is produced under their Rock Block label.

The 2007 Pinot Noir Evenstad Reserve is more substantial with an alluring bouquet of toast, spice box, mineral, earth notes, raspberry, and cherry. Mouth-coating on the palate, it has layered savory fruit, ripe tannin, lively acidity, outstanding concentration, and a lengthy, pure finish.

Crisp tannins surround a sweet core of berry, spice and coffee flavors that linger on the taut finish. Shows signs of opening up nicely.

this wine is so tight when the bottle is opened. It displays young burgundy characteristics with elegant fruit and rich tannins that fade into mouth coating silkyness. I beleive these 2007's have the ability to age effortlessly for 10+ years and will sustain there fruit. The wine takes about 45 minutes to open up in the bottle and will go from there.

A flawed bottle may be affected by cork taint, heat (maderized), oxidation, or excessive sulfur. Additionally, some people consider wines tainted by Brettanomyces (Brett), a non-spore forming genus of yeast, a flaw although there is much controversy surrounding the subject.
