Red Pinot Noir
Producer Notes

Kosta-Browne started its supersonic trek to celebrity status in 1997, when pals Dan Kosta and Michael Browne pooled their restaurant tips and purchased a half ton of Pinot Noir, a manual crusher-de-stemmer and a used barrel. Adding the business and investment-savy Chris Costello gave Kosta Browne the requisite resources to expand into the Pinot force they are today. Fruit is sourced from... More »

Powerful and yet elegant. One of the best Pinot Noir made in California. Delicious aroma and complex and pleasing in the mouth. It makes you want to have more after every sip.

The aroma of this dark red Pinot smells of the most luscious, ripe, red cherries, and is absolutely intoxicating. On the palate, some time is still needed to bring out the succulent cherry fruit flavor, which is peppered with Asian spices and a bit of smoky oak.

Dark ruby red in color with big black cherry fruit and cola notes with a hint of spice. This wine is nicely balanced with a significant finish

Opened and decanted for thirty minutes. Initially the wine was all dark cherry and heat, heat on the nose, heat on the front palate, side palate, back. However after another forty-five minutes in the decanter this wine began to show the pedigree of the vintage and the winemaker. Expressed loads of dark, ripe cherry with sassafras, forest root and dark spices. There is just, I mean just, some toastiness on the edges. Along the sides of the mid-palate there is some really nice vanilla bean with caramel pushing it toward the finish which is all fig and cola. All together after the length of the decant and time in the glass this wine proved to be fairly even handed with lots of really great spice; balanced in its flavor profile and well put together. If the alcohol could be cut by just a bit it would really be a knock out.

A flawed bottle may be affected by cork taint, heat (maderized), oxidation, or excessive sulfur. Additionally, some people consider wines tainted by Brettanomyces (Brett), a non-spore forming genus of yeast, a flaw although there is much controversy surrounding the subject.
