Somewhat disappointing, considering some of the glowing reviews this wine received. Drinks like a Central Coast Pinot Noir with a little Zin mixed in for backbone, or a Vin de Pays Pinot Noir. The bouquet is much bigger than the finish - in fact, the finish dissipates in about five seconds. Still, not a bad quaff for $4.99. Bottom line: a non-descript, though drinkable Italian red.
A flawed bottle may be affected by cork taint, heat (maderized), oxidation, or excessive sulfur. Additionally, some people consider wines tainted by Brettanomyces (Brett), a non-spore forming genus of yeast, a flaw although there is much controversy surrounding the subject.
