2007 Buccella - Cabernet Sauvignon Cabernet Sauvignon - USA - California - Napa - Napa Valley - Red

A very solid bottle of wine. When I poured it through the Vinturri into my decantor, the first thing you noticed is the enormous nose on this wine. It literally smelled like a grape juice instead of a wine. After 20 minutes in the decantor, a beautiful wine emerged with bright ripe fruit and a hint of smoke and vanilla. This is a very fruit forward wine with refined tannins.

$130. Nose not as powerful as 07 Merlot but starts to open up after a bit to nice dark red fruits. Light tannin so quite soft and solid amount of fruit on palate (not overbearing for 2007 vintage like some in Napa). Nice medium length finish. Great wine.

Barrel Sample -Of the three wines, the Cabernet was nearly impenetrable when poured at the winery. With hours of air, it is beginning to flesh out. I will be very interested how it progresses in the next 11 months Aroma:blackberry and polished spice notes, vanilla and hints of black plum and blossoms (geranium?) Palate: firm and focused, beginning to show length after 10+ hours Impression: Not too worried about the direction it is going - this wine has been a consensus mid 90 point wine since inception.
