A subtle hint of menthol, black raspberry and cherry plus a hint of underbrush leads to delicious, round, ripe and sappy medium-bodied flavors that possess excellent mid-palate concentration and plenty of dry extract that buffers the solid tannic spine and coats the palate. There is some warmth that arrives on the finish though it's not enough to really affect the balance.

($44) Deep, bright red. Ripe red berry and cherry aromas are complicated by blood orange and fresh flowers. Fleshy, palate-coating red fruit flavors deliver solid punch and pick up a sexy Indian spice character with air. The finish repeats the deep cherry note and leaves dusty mineral and floral traces in its expansive wake. I'd resist opening this one for at least another three years. (JR)

The potentially outstanding Alesia 2007 Pinot Noir Falstaff Road Vineyard, another Sonoma Coast site, exhibits sweet raspberry and black cherry notes intermixed with steely acidity and hints of wet rocks, subtle herbs, and background oak, with some firm tannins in the finish This looks set for a long life of at least 7-10+ years.

Medium-bodied, firm and spicy, with tight black cherry and wild berry fruit joined by a nice minerally, earthy edge that provides an added measure of complexity and depth. Needs time.
