($70) Bright ruby-red. Fresh aromas and flavors of black raspberry, dark cherry, leather and sexy oak spices, with a hint of dill. Supple, suave and sweet, with ripe acids energizing the mid-palate of this chewy wine. The leathery hint carries through to the finish, which features firm, dusty tannins and lingering sweet fruit.

The dense ruby/purple-tinged 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon One Point Five (includes 1% Petit Verdot, 10,000 cases produced) offers up juicy red and black fruit notes intermixed with licorice, coffee beans, and camphor as well as an impressive, full-bodied texture, good elegance, and floral undertones. With a savory, broad texture, this beauty can be drunk now or cellared for 15-20 years.

The WA review is spot on. Good blueberry aroma. Full bodied, with dark berries on the palate. Very long finish and definitely NOT chewy.

Clear deep garnet. Clean aromas of dark fruit, oak and loamy soil. Dry palate of casis and hints of mineral. Medium bodied, moderate ETOH, firm tannins, medium finish. I find it difficult to fairly evaluate this wine when you've had the Hillside Select. This is a fairly well made cab in the the stags leap style, but somehow I always expect more with the Shafer label on it.

A flawed bottle may be affected by cork taint, heat (maderized), oxidation, or excessive sulfur. Additionally, some people consider wines tainted by Brettanomyces (Brett), a non-spore forming genus of yeast, a flaw although there is much controversy surrounding the subject.
