Red Pinot Noir
Producer Notes

Kosta-Browne started its supersonic trek to celebrity status in 1997, when pals Dan Kosta and Michael Browne pooled their restaurant tips and purchased a half ton of Pinot Noir, a manual crusher-de-stemmer and a used barrel. A great pinot! Ultra-rich cherries, spices and red fruits made this a very memorable wine!

Opened and decanted for forty five minutes. Initial nose of vanilla and drunken cherries. On the palate there is plum, dark cherry and blueberry with spice and taostiness pushing it toward a clean, round darke, spiced cherry finish. The alcohol is a little high and gets in the way of some of the flavors. Hour two and the wine is bigger and has rounded out yet still light on its feet. Hour three is just rich and supple with a little fuzzy apricot showing on the nose. A nice wine to spoil yourself with and an excellent foil the the '07 Chasseur Rayhill we had with it.

I was pleasantly surprised...still young, but impressive. Bright cherry, robust tannins which need time to soften up, great acidity...while high in alcohol, the wine is balanced. The nose was beautiful...I hadn't even poured the first glass and the bouquet began escaping the bottle like an intoxicating perfume. I may just keep my last two bottles instead of selling them. :)

A flawed bottle may be affected by cork taint, heat (maderized), oxidation, or excessive sulfur. Additionally, some people consider wines tainted by Brettanomyces (Brett), a non-spore forming genus of yeast, a flaw although there is much controversy surrounding the subject.
