Tasted On 03/07/2010

Relatively deep crimson color with little in the way of a distinguishable halo given its youth. The alcohol content is readily apparent in ample legs that run down the glass at a modest pace. Decent nose of berries on it giving it a pleasant aroma to welcome you in, particularly given the price. No not so much so that it would entice genuine excitement before the first taste, but enticing enough nonetheless. A lot of alcohol to sift through when making up your mind here but would characterize this as a medium bodied wine with tight enough tannins to make it stand up and count and keep you reaching for your glass. Close out with a robust finish. Overall an outstanding wine in the context of the outlay and very good regardless of what one were to pay.

A flawed bottle may be affected by cork taint, heat (maderized), oxidation, or excessive sulfur. Additionally, some people consider wines tainted by Brettanomyces (Brett), a non-spore forming genus of yeast, a flaw although there is much controversy surrounding the subject.
