($125) Bright medium ruby. Crushed berries and rocky minerality on the nose, plus a hint of dark berry syrup. Densely packed, chewy and sweet, with the concentrated mid-palate flavor and baby fat to support the wine's rather serious tannic structure. Just a tad gritty now, with a chocolatey sweetness dominating the back end, but should show more definition with several years of bottle aging.

Drink Dates 2009-2039

A fabulous effort, and perhaps BarnettâÂ?Â?s best wine in twenty years, the 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Rattlesnake Hill possesses an inky/blue/purple color as well as an exquisite nose of crushed rocks, acacia flowers, blue, red, and black fruits, full-bodied power, a layered, multidimensional personality, and serious concentration and length. This classic Spring Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon should age effortlessly for 30+ years. Bravo!

A flawed bottle may be affected by cork taint, heat (maderized), oxidation, or excessive sulfur. Additionally, some people consider wines tainted by Brettanomyces (Brett), a non-spore forming genus of yeast, a flaw although there is much controversy surrounding the subject.
