97pts and wine of the year from Luca Maroni? Eh, why not for $25. Utterly fabulous and just a terrific wine that's on par with Terra di Lavoro, amazing structure, backbone, acid, it's all there. Big tannins but not harsh, this has the stamina to age. Nearly opaque purple, it would have been even more amazing after a decently long decant. Blackberry and vanilla with some characteristics taken on from the oak. Such a full mouth feel, such smoothness. This wine needs (needs, needs needs!) food with such high acid, but it's gorgeous and amazing, I will say it again. So thrilled I have a bottle left and plan to stock up on the 2008 which might be even better.

A flawed bottle may be affected by cork taint, heat (maderized), oxidation, or excessive sulfur. Additionally, some people consider wines tainted by Brettanomyces (Brett), a non-spore forming genus of yeast, a flaw although there is much controversy surrounding the subject.
