When this wine was opened, its brownish, garnet hue, raisined black-cherry aroma, and sweetish, dried cherry flavor screamed that it was well past its prime. It tasted almost like port. We opened a different wine altogether, leaving this California Nebbiolo to languish on our counter. The next day, however, the brown color had mysteriously vanished, the aromas had turned to flowers and tobacco, and the flavor had become pleasing and spicy. What a transformation! If you have some - let it cellar for a few more years before drinking. You may be in for a treat.
