Producer Notes

Philip Staehle, owner/winemaker, has been around wine in Sonoma since the mid 1980s when he worked with Richard Graff on the Carmenet project for Chalone. Enkidu gets its name from a character in the Epic of Gilgamesh, written 4000 years ago in Sumeria. A flawed bottle may be affected by cork taint, heat (maderized), oxidation, or excessive sulfur. Additionally, some people consider wines tainted by Brettanomyces (Brett), a non-spore forming genus of yeast, a flaw although there is much controversy surrounding the subject.
