WINEMAKER'S NOTES: The grapes for the Pinot come from the Valhalla Vineyard, which was planted over 20 years ago with a grand cru burgundy clone brought to the United States in the early part of the 20th Century. This Pinot Noir has deep ruby color with a superb nose of black cherry, wild strawberry, and black earth. It fills the mouth with Burgundian flavors of blackberries, raspberries, and spicy earth tones. The wine is full-bodied, rich, and elegant with refined tannins, and very good acidity. It lingers on the palate for a considerable time and should drink well for many years to come.

A flawed bottle may be affected by cork taint, heat (maderized), oxidation, or excessive sulfur. Additionally, some people consider wines tainted by Brettanomyces (Brett), a non-spore forming genus of yeast, a flaw although there is much controversy surrounding the subject.
