2006 Caymus - Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon - USA - California - Napa - Napa Valley - Red

Strong cherry and wildberry aromas on the nose and a consistent vanilla note throughout. Concentrated, but not overly dense. Reasonably well structured, but the tannins are still firmer than you would expect for a 6 year-old Cabernet. A good wine, done in the Bordeaux style, but even with 6 years in the bottle still more tannic than expected.

Great deep red color, medium body, still some tannins, should drink well through 2012

Big weekend at the Harris's. We had the following wines in order - Pride Mt. Cab 05, Showket Cab 05, Caymus Napa Cab 06, Hanna Bismark 01 and Justin justification 08. All wines were excellent, many had similar profiles and can continue to age. Pride had less oaky flavors, drinking at its peak, Showket was also drinking at it's peak, more Oak but the Caymus Napa and Hanna were both bigger in structure and flavor. Caymus with it's pronounced vanilla profile and the Hanna from start to finish robust fruit and oak flavors, both the All four of these wines had a strong lasting finish. All were bright with flavors not earthy. I loved then all.

Strong nose. Let set for 20 min. Bursting vanilla, almost to much right now. Leave them in the cellar for another year at a minimum. Supple oak, but think more will come out with age.

This was third in the tasting order, and clearly the WOTN. Outstanding quality, as usual. Beautiful bouquet of crushed, dark berries, oak and hint of white pepper. Full on the midpalate with great viscosity. Cinnamon and that wonderful Rutherford "dust" on the finish. Caymus has turned out another profound and remarkable wine.

Nice big Cali cab. Smooth tannins, wonderful fruit, but maybe just a little flabby. A hit with our dinner crowd.

Purple in color. Low rim variation. Medium legs. Black currant (cassis), Oak, Chocolate, Cherry. Cherry, Oak, Black Pepper. Medium/Full bodied. Linear texture. Medium finish.

Excellent full bodied cabernet. Will improve with more time if we can wait.

Strong powerful blackberry and cherry, with hints of vanilla and cocoa. The wine is rich with low acidy with fruit that lingers on the tongue.

Very dark garnet in color, this wine has a nose of tobacco, wet earth, and well oiled leather. In the mouth it is clean and assertive, with beautiful cherry cola flavors and a clean glassy quality to the flavors. This bright quality is complemented by well integrated, soft tannins that caress the palate as the wine heads for a chocolate scented finish. Lovely.

Very tasty. No time to take notes that evening, but I simply know I will revisit.
