Producer Notes

Chateau Angelus is located just west of the town of St. Emilion and was promoted to Premier Grand Cru Classe status in 1996. Typical blends consist of Merlot and Cabernet Franc which are grown on Angelus's southerly-exposed vineyards. Chateau Angelus also produces a second wine called Carillon de l'Angelus.

Drink Dates 2012-2030

Medium deep ruby purple, lighter than 2004. A rather closed nose. High tannin due to age. A bigger and stronger wine than 2004. Hint of toffee behind the black fruits. Stronger aftertaste than 2004, medium to long. I think the 2004 vintage has bigger potential than this one and 2006 will offer a more recent pleasure.

A flawed bottle may be affected by cork taint, heat (maderized), oxidation, or excessive sulfur. Additionally, some people consider wines tainted by Brettanomyces (Brett), a non-spore forming genus of yeast, a flaw although there is much controversy surrounding the subject.
