Producer Notes

Fifth-generation Napa natives John and Maggy Kongsgaard produce The Judge, Chardonnay, VioRous, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon. Low yielding vineyards and traditional low-intervention winemaking techniques produce powerful, graceful wines which are high intensity expressions of vineyard and variety.

Full body of ripe peach and papaya flavors, hints of cinnamon, pear - exotic rather than classic. Heavy on the finish, yet lively and cleansing. Light gold rich color and a nose of vanilla bean. Definitely an attention grabber. Cheers!

Initially somewhat reticent on the nose showing buttered popcorn and dill. Honey, melon and fig emerging. Great focus and acidity and length on the palate. Touch of fennel. Massive finish. Crushed stone, vanilla, cantaloupe and lemon on the nose. Concentrated and rich but still nuanced and balanced. Pineapple and honey. Oily lemon and a touch of egg custard.

A flawed bottle may be affected by cork taint, heat (maderized), oxidation, or excessive sulfur. Additionally, some people consider wines tainted by Brettanomyces (Brett), a non-spore forming genus of yeast, a flaw although there is much controversy surrounding the subject.
