Fun night tasting wines from Ornellaia a 2011 Solia, 2006 Ornellaia, 2011 Masseto - the Ornellaia was the best of the 3 - the Masseto was too young. The Ornellaia was perfectly balanced and full of bright fruit, complexity and some remaining tannin that should keep this wine for 10-15 years more.

Very jammy (blackcurrant) and herby (menthol, eucalyptus) nose. Very powerful, full-bodied tuscan character, sweetness (ripe black fruits). Lacked a bit of acidity and complexity to get a better score. This wine might need another couple of years cellaring to develop some more balance of tastes.

A flawed bottle may be affected by cork taint, heat (maderized), oxidation, or excessive sulfur. Additionally, some people consider wines tainted by Brettanomyces (Brett), a non-spore forming genus of yeast, a flaw although there is much controversy surrounding the subject.
