Red Proprietary Blend
Producer Notes

Orin Swift Cellars is the realization of a dream that began while Dave Phinney was studying abroad at the University of Florence. When he returned to the States, he worked his first harvest for the Robert Mondavi Winery on the nightshift. The next year, he started Orin Swift Cellars with two tons of purchased Zinfandel grapes.

Well past its prime. On the edge of sweetness, no pepper and no tannins left. Not sure if it is the year or that I'm done with over-blended fruit-forward wines.

This magnum was superb. It shows the true talent of a fantastic winemaker. Dave Phinney is a magician and he shows how magical he can make a wine.

Really enjoyed this Zin blend. Drank it with Indian spicy food and all the company said it was a great pairing.

This style of wine is definitely not my cup of tea. I am guessing it carries .75 RS. It has a stated 15.2% alcohol and fruit that pounds you like a Mike Tyson punch. I think these "fruit forward" wines will be looked back on as we do ML, flabby, over-oaked Chardonnays. This wine is for the novice who thinks they are stepping up to more a sophisticated wine. "Hey, I can actually taste something!" Wow!

You can smell the alcohol, and a little cinnamon action with bright cherries. Here it is.... Chocolate covered Celery! I honestly believe I hit it right on the nose with that description. If you like a more vegetal taste, then you will love this. It does open up after a few hours, but it still has those main characteristics of veggies and chocolate. It doesn't have as much depth as the 05.

Very tasty, berry-ish, full-bodied. Might do well with a little more bottle age.

A flawed bottle may be affected by cork taint, heat (maderized), oxidation, or excessive sulfur. Additionally, some people consider wines tainted by Brettanomyces (Brett), a non-spore forming genus of yeast, a flaw although there is much controversy surrounding the subject.
