Classicically styled cotes de castillon with subtle fruit flavors underneath massive structure. Quite literally one of the most tannic wines I have ever tasted, yet it seemed to work. This wine cries out for food to soften the blow a bit and bring out the fruit abit more.

There is a seductive aroma and a certain maturity and savvy nature to this wine, with a nice soft and pleasant plum, black currant and ripe blueberry note. Very alluring I must say and there is a sense of beauty to this, something that reminded me of a mature middle aged woman. However, we opened this wine way too early and didn't have enough time to even decant this properly unfortunately. A little bit of mint flavor on the palate with a nice caramel finish, but the wine is really quite tannic and very dry to assess. You felt that there are a lot of good materials here that are locked away and you just cannot access it. After a bit more decanting (another 30 minutes or so), a red apple skin flavor started to show a little bit. Long finish, 40+ seconds. Some nice ripe plum flavors also developed at the finish. I also detected some ketchup with omelet to this wine, with some sausage and spice box added to it, sort of like a healthy breakfast. Some meatiness and some fleshiness. Anywhere from 90 to 94 points. I like the fact that this wine is providing me with this great concentration, intensity, power, beauty and integration at this point. It might even be a bit too complex for me to judge it too. My range might be even lower. So again, when there is range, the medium will apply. Blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc.
