Tasted On 04/30/2011

Saturday, April 23, 2011 - HC Grenache Tasting (Harvard Club of Boston): Wonderful nose of black cherry, dark plums, and a hint of ginger (?). Very rich mouthfeel with intense flavors of dark cherry, black raspberry, and almost a hint of sea salt on the finish. The wine was incredibly smooth with the tannins in near perfect balance. This one didn't quite come up to the levels of the 2003 tasted last year, but still a spectacular New World Grenache. Our #2 WOTN.

A flawed bottle may be affected by cork taint, heat (maderized), oxidation, or excessive sulfur. Additionally, some people consider wines tainted by Brettanomyces (Brett), a non-spore forming genus of yeast, a flaw although there is much controversy surrounding the subject.
