The fruit had dissipated more than expected. Full of silky oak like usual but the mid palate and balance were out of whack. Still a good drinkable wine, just not outstanding.

A nice and easy drinking cabernet. Nose of blackberry and blueberries with rounded tannins and a long finish. This wine did not deserve a 81 from Laube.

The last few vintages of Silver Oak have been really disapointing, especially the AV.

Clear inky purple in color all the way to the rim. Clean muted aromas of pencil shavings and black currant. Dry palate of toasty oak dark fruit and graphite. Hot, and tannic with no appreciable effort for fruit integration. I think with their massive increase in production and recent offerings of simplified, unbalanced and over-extracted wines the days of this winery as a quality producer are over....I now consider it the Budweiser of Cabernet

A flawed bottle may be affected by cork taint, heat (maderized), oxidation, or excessive sulfur. Additionally, some people consider wines tainted by Brettanomyces (Brett), a non-spore forming genus of yeast, a flaw although there is much controversy surrounding the subject.
