($65) Bright ruby-red. Wild, inviting aromas of blackcurrant, blueberry, pepper, spices and game. Sweet but not particularly fleshy, offering a juicy character to the flavors of crushed berries, pepper and spices. Nicely suave cabernet with a firm edge of acidity and ripe, building tannins.

The 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley is gorgeous. It is a soft, caressing wine laced with expressive dark fruit, blackberries, spices, leather and flowers, all of which come together beautifully in the glass. This is a surprisingly soft, open young wine with lovely inner perfume and a mid-weight structure that makes it approachable, even today. It is a great starting point for readers who are new to the Dunn wines

Standout aroma of subtle mushrooms, aged wood, and blackberries. Not your typical napa cabernet (especially at this age), with forest floor flavors and dark fruit. Great mid palate, but lacking something on the finish. I would recommend drinking this like a medium aged bordeaux cab (would have been great with some lamb or duck).

A flawed bottle may be affected by cork taint, heat (maderized), oxidation, or excessive sulfur. Additionally, some people consider wines tainted by Brettanomyces (Brett), a non-spore forming genus of yeast, a flaw although there is much controversy surrounding the subject.
