Aromas of black fruits, tapenade, ground pepper, and spice box emerge from the 2005 Syrah Russian River (1,400 cases). There is some herbaceousness underneath the fruit, but the wine is full-bodied, rich, complex, and comes across like a Crozes-Hermitage on steroids.

Lots of spice, pepper, fresh earth and new leather scents join ripe blueberry and blackberry flavors. Taut, focused and complex, this homes in on its spicy attributes on the finish.

Lush and rich. In harmony and balance, even two days later. Enjoyed as pop and pour. Dark berries, boysenberry, blackberry.

A flawed bottle may be affected by cork taint, heat (maderized), oxidation, or excessive sulfur. Additionally, some people consider wines tainted by Brettanomyces (Brett), a non-spore forming genus of yeast, a flaw although there is much controversy surrounding the subject.
