This may very well be one of the prettiest wines so far to come out of Cliff Lede, made by Michelle Edwards. The location of the former S. Anderson winery, near the intersection of Yountville Cross and Silverado Trail, has been transformed into a modern, state-of-the-art facility under the guidance of this remarkably talented winemaker. I don't typically experience this kind of quality in wines much over 1,000 case production. With nearly six times that much produced, the wine is still highly allocated.
The nose is concentrated and pretty rich showing licorice, salt, black currant and blackberry. The palate is classic Stags Leap - boldly focused structure with undulating, vibrant black fruits. Firm, but beautifully sculpted. The finish is chocolate and blackberry.

Drank the Cliff Lede and Hess Collection with the Skelton's and Gunther. The Cliff Lede was a classic Stags Leap District wine - Earthy flavors combined with oak and dark fruit. This wine was drinking really well with the ability to age longer. The Hess Collection needed time to unwind and even then had a poor upfront flavor. This is definately NOT the wine it was two to three years ago. Color and body held up but it was not enjoyable.
