The Shea Vineyard, established in 1996 by Dick and Deirdre Shea, encompasses over 30 distinct blocks of primarily Pinot Noir with limited planting of Chardonnay. That splendid Shea nose of violets/lavender, dark cherry, cranberry and orange-peel spice. More black fruit comes through with air, all along stiffened by the excellent mineral backbone. On the palate the wine shows excellent focus with nicely formed acidity and a bit of sweet cherry/berry on the finish.

I have wanted to truly cheer for Oregon Pinot for a long time and now I have a reason. This is the best Oregon Pinot I've tried. And I have tried most of the big names, which have left me, more often than not, underwhelmed. The Shea/Shea is a beautifully woven quilt of blueberries, cherries and cranberries that wraps around you and keeps you feeling enamored right through the long, symphonic finish.

Soft, dry and elegant with subtle fruits of berry, dark cherry and blackberry. The finish is soft and slightly dry, but not austere. Another year will help this wine to mature to its fullest
