Red Cabernet Sauvignon
Producer Notes

Schrader's mission statement is essentially one where their 30-year leases on vineyard parcels give them the ability to present a specific clonal study of Cabernet Sauvignon from three highly desired clones (4, 6, and 337) grown within a single vineyard. The bottom line is that with their production averages about 1,600 cases of Cabernet Sauvignon, the wines do have subtle differences, but most... More »

Whow! If you want a wine that explodes in your mouth, is full of fruit and overpowering with floral scents, this is it.

Excellent expression of B2K terroir. Great mid palate complexity with long finish.

The winery ships this CA Cab in a very heavy glass bottle wrapped in tissue, forecasting a serious and very big experience. Indeed. Don't come looking for a signature of terroir from this famous vineyard. That's not what this wine shows. Rather, it delivers a sort of state-of-the-art expression of wine-making. Great fruit, to be sure -- black cherry, predominately. But it was very much an of-the-barrel, high-profile experience -- cedar, vanilla, creamy, thick and voluptuous, high glycerin. Long, coating, and extracted finish. 14.6% alcohol, ripped like a bodybuilder. It's not "tight" like a tannic Bordeaux. Yet, perhaps time will allow more integration. Or, maybe that's not the point. Drink now and experience a delicious, massive Cab. And at $95, a bargain compared to other Napa trophies.

A flawed bottle may be affected by cork taint, heat (maderized), oxidation, or excessive sulfur. Additionally, some people consider wines tainted by Brettanomyces (Brett), a non-spore forming genus of yeast, a flaw although there is much controversy surrounding the subject.
