The Ramey designates all come from special sites regarded in the industry as being of the highest quality. All whole cluster pressed, fermented with native yeast and undergoing a full malolactic secondary fermentation, the designated wines receive about 70% new oak and are aged sur lie prior to being bottled unfiltered. Shows an alluring nose of honey anise and chalky mineral. The palate has rich hazelnut, Meyer lemon and elegant toast notes balanced by fine acidity. Shows a long harmonious finish. Drink 2007 - 2015.

Nice nose of vanilla, tropical fruit, and sweet tangerines. Rich full body dominated by sweet fruit and slight diacetyl butterscotch. Didn't have the laser like focus some Ramey's we have tasted over the years. Enjoyed it with a pasta salad, tomato/basil/mozarella stacks, and grilled veggies.

We drank this with Chilean Sea Bass on 3/22/09. It had a strong bouquet of pear, peach, citrus, smoke, mineral and iodine aromas. The palate followed with pear, peach, grapefruit and mineral flavors. It was rich and complex with VERY HIGH ACIDITY. There was a little oak in the background (barely noticeable). This was terrific and left me wanting more.

A flawed bottle may be affected by cork taint, heat (maderized), oxidation, or excessive sulfur. Additionally, some people consider wines tainted by Brettanomyces (Brett), a non-spore forming genus of yeast, a flaw although there is much controversy surrounding the subject.
