Red Cabernet Sauvignon
Producer Notes

No Washington winery commands more attention from wine collectors than Quilceda Creek, with repeated 100-point scores and subsequent appreciating bottle value. Since 1978, the Alex Golitzin and his son Paul have been lauded for their flagship Cabernet Sauvignon, which is elevated by the Bordelais practice of declassification of up to one third of production into a second label each year. Saturated deep ruby. Brooding, backward nose hints at deep black plum, cassis, graphite and nutty, spicy oak. Fat, sweet and superconcentrated, with an almost citric suggestion of acidity and chewy dry extract contributing to the impression of structure. Wonderfully bright for such a ripe wine, and explosively long on the aftertaste. Along with its considerably power, this promises to deliver great class in an almost Medoc-like way.

Drink Dates 2013-2033

From a hot vintage and incredible any way you look at it, the 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon has that laser-like focus of a cooler year, yet the voluptuousness and richness of a warmer year. Smoked black fruits, coffee, truffle and pen ink-like aromas and flavors all emerge from this massive, incredibly full-bodied effort and on the palate, it carries itself perfectly with a weightless, yet decadent texture, masses of polished tannin and blockbuster length. More classic and textbook than the 2007, it is every bit as good. Enjoy it over the coming two decades or more. Drink now-2033.

Richly aromatic, this brims with dark berry and currant aromas and flavors, shaded with espresso and dark chocolate overtones that play against somewhat gritty tannins. A meaty note adds extra depth as the finish lingers on and on against the tannins. 3,400 cases made.

Deep dark brooding ruby red, gorgeous nose of big berries, beautiful well integrated soft tannins and a long fantastic finish. Goes well with great company as does everything in life.

A flawed bottle may be affected by cork taint, heat (maderized), oxidation, or excessive sulfur. Additionally, some people consider wines tainted by Brettanomyces (Brett), a non-spore forming genus of yeast, a flaw although there is much controversy surrounding the subject.
