Clear ruby in color, this inexpensive Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir presents a nose of candied cherries, dark plums, and a hint of smoke. The palate follows through on the nose with a similar profile, though the alcohol and acid seem too present and there doesn't seem to be a lot of depth. I imagine this wine would have been more enjoyable at an earlier stage in its development when the cherry fruit must have been richer and more prominent.
