Solid Pinot; however, was expecting more from it. Might be past due

Was not the crowd favorite but this was a powerful, Cali-style Pinot with big sour cherry and earthy flavors that were very forward. Light in color but a big wine with lots of earth. Tannins may have been a little harsh, but still delicious (to me).

Explosive strawberry/raspberry melds with some barnyard. Not enough acid to carry the wine through the palate.

Ruby in color. Black currant (cassis). Medium/Full bodied. Smooth texture. Medium finish. Not a traditional pinot. Was served at the Congressional luncheon after the inauguration of President Obama.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t3zWmM9yWtw Pair with pork chop; blue cheese tart Wine Enthusiast July 2008 Winemaker Zach Rasmuson did not produce a Narrows Vineyard bottling in 2005. Instead, those grapes went into the regular Goldeneye, to its great benefit. The wine is particularly rich and powerful in cherry pie filling, black raspberry, mocha, Dr. Pepper and smoky oak flavors, with a gorgeous, mouth-filling texture that's dramatic on the finish. 92 points Wine Spectator July 31, 2008 Rich and distinctive, with complex, concentrated loamy earth, black cherry, wild berry, savory spice and fresh earth scents. The tannins are rich and mouthcoating, yet the fruit pours through. 92 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar May/June 2008 Good, bright deep red. Brambly raspberry, spices, smoked meat and a whiff of oak char on the nose. Juicy red fruit and smoked meat flavors offer a round texture and are nicely lifted by spices and a peppery nuance. Finishes with dusty tannins and some oaky torrefaction. 88 points Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine June 2008 Rich oak combines nicely with equally rich cherry-like fruit and suggestions of dried flowers in the nose of this outgoing effort, and the wine's flavors follow suit with sweetly spiced cherries running their length. It is firmly balance but fully expressed and easy to taste even now, and it will make very fine drinking over the next several years while its vineyard-designate siblings age into their best. 91 points, two puffs Dan Berger's Vintage Experiences April 17, 2008 Light, racy, elegant aroma with classy red fruit and a faint peppery note. Great balance. Exceptional

Didn't take detailed notes, but it seemed very "115"-ish. Strong red fruit notes with spice and good acid level.

A flawed bottle may be affected by cork taint, heat (maderized), oxidation, or excessive sulfur. Additionally, some people consider wines tainted by Brettanomyces (Brett), a non-spore forming genus of yeast, a flaw although there is much controversy surrounding the subject.
