Just a great, aged pegau. Raspberry, Garrigue, beef blood, Asian spice, med+ finish

We drank this with dinner quest on 11/1/09. Everyone loved it. It had a fabulous nose of violet, cherry, earth, sage and spice aromas. The palate was exceptionally smooth, refined and balanced with cherry, sage, spice and coca flavors. It was not nearly as big as I expected...just incredibly delicious.

Sticky and dirty on the nose with plenty of primary fig, plum, black pepper, cranberry, and cola. Full mouthfeel with some excess acid and tannin that will hopefully integrate.

Dark red with slight garnet rim. Very pronounced sour cherries, leather and some tobacco. All enveloped in dark fruit aromas. The flavors showing strongest are dark fruit components such as blackberry and black cherry with a bit of blackpepper and molasses. Soft and gripping tannins, medium acidity and a long multi-layered finish.

I've tasted this wine on 4 separate occasions and this has to be the best showing yet (which is a great sign for you guys that loaded up on this vintage). It has continued to pout on weight in the bottle and flirted w/ some exotic character yesterday evening that I had not detected from previous tastings. Surprisingly developed notes of deep, dark currant, meadow herbs, grilled beef, brewed coffee, cocoa and a touch of boysenberry highlight the profile of this young Chateauneuf. This showing demonstrated more sinew, persistence and opulence than previous tastings and left me very optimistic about the potential of this young wine

A flawed bottle may be affected by cork taint, heat (maderized), oxidation, or excessive sulfur. Additionally, some people consider wines tainted by Brettanomyces (Brett), a non-spore forming genus of yeast, a flaw although there is much controversy surrounding the subject.
