Auction prices are based on actual auction results (inclusive of buyerÂ’s premiums) of 750ml bottle sizes only. As auction prices fluctuate from auction to auction and some wines have limited auction activity, the average auction price is updated twice a month and derived from a proprietary algorithm.

Issue Issue 127

($60) Ruby-red. Potent aromas of bitter cherry, pepper, licorice and tobacco show excellent varietal accuracy. Tangy and vibrant, with strong cherry and cassis flavors complemented by subtle notes of minerals, cured tobacco and spicy oak. A focused, youthfully restrained cabernet that has the concentration and balance to reward cellaring. Offers impressive potential. (The Grateful Palate, Oxnard, CA)

Drink Dates 2005-2015

The deep ruby/purple-colored 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon exhibits a restrained, elegant bouquet of black fruits, minerals, and toasty new oak. Medium to full-bodied, with excellent concentration, purity, and texture, it should be consumed over the next 7-10 years.

A flawed bottle may be affected by cork taint, heat (maderized), oxidation, or excessive sulfur. Additionally, some people consider wines tainted by Brettanomyces (Brett), a non-spore forming genus of yeast, a flaw although there is much controversy surrounding the subject.
