Red Cabernet Sauvignon
Producer Notes

From their 21-acre Grigsby Vineyard just next to Stags Leap District, Eric Grigsby and Mary Fran Rocca source the Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah for their highly-regarded wines. This vineyard, planted in 1991 and purchased by Eric and Mary Fran in 1999, sits on the benchland of the Vaca Mountains, where the vines benefit from the warmer climate to the north and the cooling influences of the San... Issue 172

Celia Masyczek uses about 2/3 new oak and the final wine is a blend of 91% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Merlot and 2% Petite Verdot.

Blue fruit and creamy mocha in the nose with abundant richness, boundless mounds of rich crushed blackberry and dark cherry, with a spicy smooth core of stone fruits. The palate packs a core of beautifully polished dark fruit with seductive extraction. A slight hint of warmth is amply overshadowed by the nectar-like licorice, blueberry and black currant on the finish.

A nice big fruit forward cab with smooth, elegant flavors. A great value -- excellent at this price.

Incredible value, what an amazing wine. Powerful nose of chocolate covered blueberries with a twist of red fruit. California cab at its finest, this wine is harmonious showing great fruit while balancing the jamminess with acidity. The finish goes on and on. I drank after 1.5 hours in the decanter and it was worth the wait. I can't believe I bought only one of these, I need to scramble and find more.

A flawed bottle may be affected by cork taint, heat (maderized), oxidation, or excessive sulfur. Additionally, some people consider wines tainted by Brettanomyces (Brett), a non-spore forming genus of yeast, a flaw although there is much controversy surrounding the subject.
