Drink Dates 2008-2013

Soft earth and mineral undertones bouquet, red fruit, mostly raspberry and white cherry. Soft and luscious raspberry with some licorice and subtle spice on the palate with a medium to long finish. Tannins are well rounded but give way to some slightly stronger than expected alcohol. A refined Syrah compared to most.

probably has great potential, but I found it a bit closed and tight. There is lots of fruit and complexity lurking there, but it just didn't come together.

Thick with licorice, plum, pepper, and smoke aromas. Good acid and already showing fine structure. More smoke, beef, and dark fruits in the mouth. I think I caught this wine at a difficult point in time during its evolution thus the greater than usual range in my preliminary score.

A flawed bottle may be affected by cork taint, heat (maderized), oxidation, or excessive sulfur. Additionally, some people consider wines tainted by Brettanomyces (Brett), a non-spore forming genus of yeast, a flaw although there is much controversy surrounding the subject.
