Wonderful in all facets, perfect from the nose, the attack on through to the finish. If anything I'd say it needs a little more tannic backbone and maybe a tad more acidity with a tad less alcohol, but that would only make it perfect and as good as it is is is not perfect. However it just may be drinking at its peak right now. Color: A dark core with velvety red edges. Nose & Palate: The nose has loamy black plum, gobs of mocha, and some spicy black smashed cherries. A velvety smooth palate experience, the wine fans out on the palate filling every crevice of the palate with the rich flavors that carry into a long fruit laden finish. Ripe and fine tannin are barely noticeable, but there, especially noticeable without food but still fine and pleasing. This paired exceptionally well with NY strip steaks.

How anyone puts this at less than a 95 for this price point, I don't understand. The nose shows mineral, subtle spice and graphite shavings. The 2004 has backed the fruit off enough after about 45 min. decanting. This blend shows excellent deep fruit, superb mouth feel, spice and creme, vanil, and oaky mids. It does keep going and finishes with a spectrum of fruit and oak. Great stuff.
