In 1998 Jayson Woodbridge released his first vintage, one Cabernet, made from his own 10-acre Kayli Morgan Vineyard. The goal was to create a "Right Bank" style Cabernet from those clay soils. Inky ruby. Pungent dark berry and kirsch on the nose, along with a complex array of game, spice and floral accents. Lush and creamy, with concentrated blackberry and cassis flavors, gentle acidity and a building impression of Asian spices. Nothing jammy here. The expansive finish features building blackcurrant and bitter cherry fruit and impressive length.

We tasted without decanting and drank it throughout a duration of about 6 hours.. A bit boring and light in the beginning w/o decanting. It gradually evolved into a finesse and complex wine with great balance in about two hours. An excellent wine that needs 2 hours of breathing time.

Hundred Acre Ancient Way Vertical Tasting
Our HC group got together in Marblehead to taste through all four vintages of Hundred Acre's Ancient Way Shiraz.

A flawed bottle may be affected by cork taint, heat (maderized), oxidation, or excessive sulfur. Additionally, some people consider wines tainted by Brettanomyces (Brett), a non-spore forming genus of yeast, a flaw although there is much controversy surrounding the subject.
