With its deep historical roots in Sonoma, Hanzell is a California wine pioneer. Its story begins in 1948, when Ambassador James D. Zellerbach acquired 200 acres in the Mayacamas Mountains north of the Sonoma Plaza. A 6-acre vineyard was planted in 1953, and the first vintage was released in 1957. Excellent aroma and palet. mature and ready to drink, very deliuos on their ripe berries....raspberry, blackberry, some leaf and mineral aftertaste which brings you the complexity this house are famous with proper cellar and aging. it shall be merit higher score if the finish was a little longer. enjoy it now and for next 18-24 months.

A flawed bottle may be affected by cork taint, heat (maderized), oxidation, or excessive sulfur. Additionally, some people consider wines tainted by Brettanomyces (Brett), a non-spore forming genus of yeast, a flaw although there is much controversy surrounding the subject.
