Red Cabernet Sauvignon
Producer Notes

Since its founding in 1972, Joseph Phelps Vineyards has been on the cutting edge of many California wine developments. From the Bordeaux-blend Insignia, first made in 1974 and Wine Spectator's wine of the year for the 2002 vintage; to the resurrection of California Syrah, also first produced in 1974, the winery has earned critical acclaim for its many estate-grown wines.

I will continue to gush over this - just terrific California Cab with black cherry and currant flavors that extent into a long finish. The nose and flavors were still around after bottle was open for hours. Just delicious with great balance. This was not fruit bomby but certainly effusive on the flavors. Medium bodied, medium legs.

Seems to be fading. Still a good wine but finish is getting a bit "green"

For being the cheap cab from Phelps that can be purchased from Costco, you can't complain...

Really good. Dark purple in color but tasted nice and mellow, more medium bodied and smooth.

Nearly black with crimson edges. Deep black jammy fruit with a hint of mint and wood. Concentrated fruit, good acidity but dry tannins on the finish. Fruity, almost like the M'dooker wines.

A flawed bottle may be affected by cork taint, heat (maderized), oxidation, or excessive sulfur. Additionally, some people consider wines tainted by Brettanomyces (Brett), a non-spore forming genus of yeast, a flaw although there is much controversy surrounding the subject.
