Producer Notes

Founded in 1932 by Isaac Muga and his wife Aurora Cano, this winery has enjoyed deserved acclaim for its traditional-style winemaking. Beautiful wine everyone enjoyed that would get even better with time. Remiinded me of a Super Tuscan. Dark berry fruit, smoke, tobacco, a dusty quality, tannic, complex, clean, med body, food friendly, old world classic style.

Classic traditional Rioja with a slightly modern edge to the flavors. Long finish and nice classic Rioja acidity. Completely the opposite of the last bottle I had which was terrible. Perhaps some variability with these

Outstanding producer from an excellent vintage in Rioja. Ruby-red medium bodied, the nose is basic, flashing inviting aromas of dark fruit and hints of earth. Cherries and red fruits hit palate in a lighter expression than the nose would indicate. Extraordinarily pleasing from attack to finish wrapped in a modest dose of silky tannins. Drinking exceptionally. Outperforms even in this vintage, especially at this price point.

colour: dark garnet. youthful. watery rim. nose: red berry and vanilla. touch of coconut. very pleasant. taste: oak. grape. blackberry. layered. quite tannic. needs 5+ years to resolve the acidity and tannin levels. finely made wine. buttery and a bit short on the palate. this wine will undoubtedly improve and should not be touched for at least 3 years.

Spicy wine with berry flavors. A good note of earth in this wine that I didn't notice in the first bottle.

A flawed bottle may be affected by cork taint, heat (maderized), oxidation, or excessive sulfur. Additionally, some people consider wines tainted by Brettanomyces (Brett), a non-spore forming genus of yeast, a flaw although there is much controversy surrounding the subject.
