Peter Mathis is Director of Winemaking at Ravenswood, overseeing large scale production. His personal project is a 7+ acre estate in Sonoma County where he grows a Grenache-focused field blend that yields about 500 cases. Quality is exceptional.
Pomegranate, carbon and blackberry aromas in the nose. The palate has ripe raspberry crispness with a splash of cassis. With air the riveting pure raspberry becomes an exclamation point. This is right up there with the top CA Grenache.

Palate: Pure raspberry and blackberry dance together
Impression: I love good Grenache and this is the best I tasted in 2008, needs an hour to really kick in to overdrive.
