Can't believe I kept this for so long. It has evolved remarkably. Very balanced; good mouthfeel; and complex flavors.

Drink Dates 2008-2011

Very sauvage in the nose with powerful redwood, undergrowth, and cranberry scents. Juicy acidity with a touch of rawness on the finish. For funk lovers.

From new oak, the 2003 Hellenthal shows deep red fruits and lots of coffee (the coffee is coming from the oak and will be less prominent in the bottled version). From old oak, the wine offers very full and slightly funky peanut butter and jam aromas. In the mouth, it has plenty of sweet fruit with good acidity. This wine has the concentration and structure one looks for in quality Pinot Noir but is so new it can'tbe reliably rated now. The 2003 was produced under a stricter selection process then the 2002 so I expect it will round into form with time. Judgment reserved.
