Brilliant ruby red w/no signs of aging. Bold cassis, blackberry, and dark cherry evenly intertwined w/pencil lead and tobacco notes. Classic velvety Margaux on the palate. Rich almost sappy dark fruit reveals the warmth of the 03 growing season. The tannins and acidity are in perfect harmony and indicate the wine will continue to improve although it's fantastic right now.

Drink Dates 2009-2020

The 2003 vintage was considered this producer's "comeback" year, and it shows in this wine. This was relatively full-bodied, ripe with black cherry and cinnamon flavors, deep and slightly earthy - everything a Margaux should be. It held together and became even deeper throughout the course of the evening. A very agreeable, sensibly priced Cru Classe Bordeaux. Ready now, and can be laid down until at least 2020.

A flawed bottle may be affected by cork taint, heat (maderized), oxidation, or excessive sulfur. Additionally, some people consider wines tainted by Brettanomyces (Brett), a non-spore forming genus of yeast, a flaw although there is much controversy surrounding the subject.
