Like liquid gold, this low alcohol riesling (8%) is super smooth with a dry/sweet character on the palate that is perfect either as an aperitif or with Asian or spicy food

Never really was a fan of whites until i saw this in an enomatic tasting room. I decided to give it a try and I was floored. The acidity gave this an electrifying zing / zest feeling followed by perfectly balanced flavors of peach + pineapple + cinammon. Unlike other Rieslings I've tried, this was remarkably similar to Sauternes (one of my favorites). In fact, my most impressive Sauternes to date was a 1990 d'Yquem (also dispensed from an enomatic) and this $30 auslese surpassed it. After I finished the glass, I decided not to buy it because I was already carrying a heavy case. On the drive home, the finish was still lingering... I could still taste the auslese.... For the next couple days, I kept regretting not buying it, so I went back and stocked up. Also ordered his 89 and 05 vintages online to compare. Unfortunately, Bert Simon has sold his vineyards and retired, so stock up!! I believe 2005 his is final vintage.

A flawed bottle may be affected by cork taint, heat (maderized), oxidation, or excessive sulfur. Additionally, some people consider wines tainted by Brettanomyces (Brett), a non-spore forming genus of yeast, a flaw although there is much controversy surrounding the subject.
