Auction prices are based on actual auction results (inclusive of buyerÂ’s premiums) of 750ml bottle sizes only. As auction prices fluctuate from auction to auction and some wines have limited auction activity, the average auction price is updated twice a month and derived from a proprietary algorithm.

Inky and super dark. Has heaps to go. Fairly closed/backward on the nose with chassis, cherries, and some tobacco and earthy tones on the palate. Needs probably 5-8+ years.

I found this bottle a little more tannic and less complex than one bottle tasted just one month ago...bottle variation? maybe. In other words, found to be more young and not as mature as previous bottle, but what a depth, core of blackcherry, redcherry a little and toasty oak in modern ripe fruit core based wine. Very distinctive and easily to deduct is good example of this label...a great marriage between classic and modern RbD.

Purple in color. Medium legs. Fig, Forest floor. Plum, Raisin. Medium/Full bodied. Smooth texture. Long finish. This is a Ribera that keeps getting better. It will drink much longer than the typical Ribera del Duero. An outstanding wine. the 2003 is just now coming together and and while Alion has always been a great wine this vintage seems particularly good.

A flawed bottle may be affected by cork taint, heat (maderized), oxidation, or excessive sulfur. Additionally, some people consider wines tainted by Brettanomyces (Brett), a non-spore forming genus of yeast, a flaw although there is much controversy surrounding the subject.
