Consumed over two nights. Better and more open on night two. No let-down here at all. Classic Pride fruit, with plenty of dark, jammy blue and black fruits, cedar, spices, and a bit of cigar smoke. Kudos!

Drink Dates 2012-2015

Still really big - super mellow though. Almost asleep. Still got some ripe red fruit with caramel, but it was rather monolithic. I would let this rest some more before opening... Good party wine, no food needed. Just not very complex right now.

The 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon (5,000 cases made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon) is a supple, flamboyant, and more accessible version of the 2001 Cabernet Sauvignon. Deep ruby/purple-colored, with a classic nose of tobacco leaf, black currant, licorice, and smoke, the wine is medium to full-bodied, has a supple texture, an attractive textural mouthfeel in addition to a plush, heady finish. Drink it over the next 8-10 years.

Drink Dates 2005-2011

Dense color with thin dark legs. Very candied with cherry, "chocolate brownie", caramel, new oak, and "vanilla ice cream" scents. Tannins are smoother and more integrated than in past vintages. Acidity is barely adequate. Lacks varietal character but is enjoyable in a spiked and liquefied ice cream sundae sort of way ? an undeniably popular style but not my preferred version of Cabernet. Fermented in stainless steel and raised in French oak. Almost entirely Cabernet with just a bit of Petite Verdot. Drink now to 2011 (but I?d opt for drinking up sooner).
