Consistent notes with further bottle development. Light ruby red color; full nose of cherries, other red fruit, mushrooms and a hint of cedar; rich and intense yet bright red fruit on the palate; good intensity and balance if not terribly complex or elegant; good acidity; long finish; really quite delicious now and should drink well for 2 to 3 more years.

Deep garnet color, with little hint of its age. Wonderful nose of red fruits - rasberry, stawberry, and a bit of cherry. Slight earthiness to the nose, though the aromas are still primary. On the palate, good balance of acid and tannin, with the tannins still providing a bit of grip. Not an elegant wine, though quite an enjoyable wine due in large part to the overall balance and persistence of the finish. A bit surprising on the upside ... another solid example from the very strong 2002 vintage. Also, very, very good value!

A flawed bottle may be affected by cork taint, heat (maderized), oxidation, or excessive sulfur. Additionally, some people consider wines tainted by Brettanomyces (Brett), a non-spore forming genus of yeast, a flaw although there is much controversy surrounding the subject.
