Extract of cassis, earth, game and a certain animale character offer the nuance behind a nose of simply fabulous black fruit that introduces incredibly powerful, deep, broad, muscular and robust flavors that are vigorously structured, culminating in a chewy, long, almost implausibly complex finish. This is a stunning wine, combining breathtaking power, complexity and length into a harmonious whole. A great, great Vaucrains.

Bright red-ruby. Extremely tight nose dominated by sweet oak and a note of chocolate. Rich, sweet and full but youthfully reticent. A very rich, complete Nuits wine with rather powerful flavors of cassis and chocolate and substantial tannins. This will call for seven or eight years of cellaring.

Scented, sweet, rich, and seductive. Unspittable. Dense and long with lots of layers. Great fruit over the tannin.

The 2002 Nuits-St.-Georges Les Vaucrains bursts from the glass with immensely spicy aromas of plummy blackberries and cherries. Intense, inky, and focused, its medium to full-bodied personality is somewhat backward yet hugely deep, ripe, and concentrated. Licorice, black cherries, tar, and hyper-ripe blackberries are found throughout its lengthy personality.

Slow to speak to me, but has potential. So happy to have @winn8d to oversee selection.

A flawed bottle may be affected by cork taint, heat (maderized), oxidation, or excessive sulfur. Additionally, some people consider wines tainted by Brettanomyces (Brett), a non-spore forming genus of yeast, a flaw although there is much controversy surrounding the subject.
