Aromas of ripe cherry and plum turn austere, dry and tannic on the palate, making this a candidate for decanting, but also raising the question of whether the fruit will survive the tannins. Needs aeration. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Petit Verdot. Best from 2006 through 2012. 20,000 cases made. -JL

A flawed bottle may be affected by cork taint, heat (maderized), oxidation, or excessive sulfur. Additionally, some people consider wines tainted by Brettanomyces (Brett), a non-spore forming genus of yeast, a flaw although there is much controversy surrounding the subject.
