Second time tasting this wine, it has evolved beautifully over 7 years and shows plenty of promise for future aging. Mulberry and dark berry aromas are lifted by smoke and spice. On the palate it is smooth and rich, yet retains an elegance and delineation that keep it from being plush, yet it has a softness of tannin and silky mouth-feel that are exemplary. The fruit has an aged tone to it, yet is still vibrant, backed by pepper, holiday spice and tobacco leaf. What were once prominent oak and acidity have integrated beautifully. A stellar rendition of Cape Shiraz.
