Drink Dates 2006-2013

Tasted in a group of 2001 Cabernets: Color: Dark ruby core, red edges....claret-like Nose: Beautiful black and red fruits mingle with herbal, cassis and cedar notes, a whiff of earth is in there too. Palate: Classic SLWC: Cassis, cherry, herbal and subtle loamy notes. Smooth subtle classic stag's leap tannin profile - the tannins and just enough acidity keep the palate fresh and having me go back for more. Nice and long finish. I'd drink any remaining over the next 3-4 years. I can't say that this will get that much better, but it should hang in there at the very least for a few more prime drinking years.

A flawed bottle may be affected by cork taint, heat (maderized), oxidation, or excessive sulfur. Additionally, some people consider wines tainted by Brettanomyces (Brett), a non-spore forming genus of yeast, a flaw although there is much controversy surrounding the subject.
